IJburg

East of Amsterdam, on lake IJsselmeer, the new development IJburg is emerging. The 18,000 dwellings in IJburg are divided over seven islands. Bridges form the connections between these islands. These bridges have a solid and rural appearance. Parts of the bridges were galvanised by Verzinkerij Heerhugowaard. We galvanised for instance a total of 80 trusses, 16 trusses for each bridge. The bridges weigh 50 tons each and they have a span of 15 metres. After the trusses had been galvanised, these parts were powder coated as well. That protects the bridges even better against the weather that can be rather rough at IJburg. Moreover, that coat makes the bridges look even more beautiful.
