Betuwelijn

Verzinkerij Heerhugowaard made a major contribution to the construction of the goods transport line "Betuwelijn". We galvanised 6575 gantry masts with a length of 8.5 metres. The masts were used for the track of the east-west connection from Arnhem to Germany. In addition to galvanising the masts, this order also included assembly of the covers and painting the base plates of the gantry masts. Then the gantry masts were transported to the places where the builders of the Betuwelijn expected them according to schedule.

On 18 June 2007 her Majesty the Queen gave the start signal for the first train on the Betuwelijn. Rail transport in the Netherlands is growing at an average annual rate of 8%. This growth is expected to continue, for the distance between Rotterdam and the markets of the future is increasing continuously. Its many technical highlights make the Betuwelijn one of the most advanced railway lines in the world.
